Thomas Heatherwick will design the mount for 2012 Olympic torch. This monumental nest of fire is planned to be built at the north side of the stadium. There are other reasons why Heatherwick is so special for this project. He is the designer of the fascinating English Pavillion at World Expo which was made up of giant needles. The designer who is currently working on his own interpretation of London’s famous double deck red busses is chosen for this project by English director Danny Boyle who will direct the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
